One More Night

Omigod I'm actually up in the freakin' morning!

Couldn't go back to sleep, so I decided to update my CV. Hopefully I'll get it on to Monster.com by the end of this week. Please, please, please let me find a job, then Mom and Dad will get off my case.

Got a meeting with my tutor soon to discuss my dissertation. Fun times.

Went to the cinema yesterday with Stu to see The Collector. Halfway through it, I realised I'd actually seen it before, although it was a crap quality one. I'd forgotten how disgusting the movie was. I always forget that watching a gritty, blurry movie on a small laptop screen makes a huge difference! I think I spent 90% of the movie hiding behind my hands or Stu's shoulder, and with my fingers in my ears.

Stu even managed to finish his popcorn whilst someone in the film was getting cut up or something. Yuck. Don't know how guys can eat or drink during a horror film. I felt physically sick less than halfway through the movie. I can still hear the screams echoing in my ears. Ugh.

Luckily, music can help drown them out. Song of the day:  Stars, One More Night. I've had it on repeat since I woke up.

Try as he might, he's unable to speak
He grabs her by the hair, he strokes her on the cheek
The bed is unmade, like everything is
Dark little heaven at the top of the stairs
Take me like that, ruin it all
Then build it again by the light in the hall
He drops to his knees, says please my love, please
I'll kill who you hate, take off that dress you won't freeze

One more night, that was a good one
One more night, I dreamed it was a good one
One more, one more night, that was a good one
One more night, the end should be a good one
A good one

He starts with her back, 'cause that's what he sees
When she's breaking his heart, she still fucks like a tease
Release to the sky, look him straight in the eye
And tell him that now, that you wish he would die
You'll never touch him again, so get what you can
Leaving him empty just because he's a man
So good when it ends, they'll never be friends
One more night, that's all they can spend

One more night, that was a good one
One more night, I dreamed it was a good one
One more, one more night, that was a good one
One more night, the end should be a good one
A good one

Super, my contacts really hurt now. :( I suppose that's what a lack of sleep will do to you.

All worth it, though. :)

Be Be Your Love

Another amazing weekend gone by.

Stu took Friday off work to help me move from Cotton Mills to Opal, where I'll be for the summer. God, I have a ton of crap. Luckily we ran into Peter on one of our trips to Opal, and he helped us move a few things. Saturday was spent mostly moving also, only this time Stu's friend Gordon totally saved the day with his car. Thanks to both wonderful guys! :) Imagine if I had to move all those heavy boxes and bags by myself! *shudder*

Saturday night was a disaster, although I did make Stu watch The Sisterhood of The Travelling Pants. Gosh, that movie always brings back memories. I think I pretty much embarrassed myself in front of Stu for an entire lifetime in just one night. Also, side note: I'm never having wine again. :(

We went to Mansfield on Sunday, where we watched the England - Germany match at Stu's. I don't usually watch football, but what a freakin' embarrassment! :( I think grown men were crying at the end of that match. We didn't even bother sitting through the whole thing. Instead we went over to Carly's (Stu's sister) place since it was her birthday. Her place is lovely! I want a house like that. There were a few kids running around with water guns, so of course we got a little wet. Now I know why my parents always said they would die before buying us those when Kelvin and I were younger, haha!

After that, we went back to Nottingham and met up with Rik, Mike and Tom at The Three Wheatsheaves for a drink. So of course, we ended up having 2 drinks. Hannah turned up halfway, and she, Mike and Tom decided to play on the slide outside the pub. Damn, I should have taken photos or videos...

So, another perfect weekend. Song for the weekend: Rachel Yamagata, Be Be Your Love, because I heard it in The Sisterhood of The Travelling Pants.

If I could take you away
Pretend I was queen
What would you say
Would you think I'm unreal
'Cause everybody's got their way I should feel

Everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love, for real
Everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love for real
Want to be your everything

Everything...

Everything's falling, and I am included in that
Oh, how I try to be just okay
Yeah, but all I ever really wanted
Was a little piece of you

And everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love, for real
Everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love for real

Everything will be alright
If you just stay the night

Please, sir, don't you walk away, don't you walk away, don't you walk away
Please, sir, don't you walk away, don't you walk away, don't you walk away

And everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love, for real
Everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love for real

And everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love, for real
Everybody's talking how I, can't, can't be your love
But I want, want, want to be your love
Want to be your love for real

I want to be your love, love, love

Hands Down

I feel like I'm in a dream, one that I never want to wake up from.

Things have been so surreal, it's hard to believe they actually happened.

Spent Friday at home trying desperately to pack some stuff for when I move to Opal on Sunday. In the end, I just gave up completely and spent the whole evening on the phone with Stu. Holly and Kelly were not around, so we missed the last Ocean, EVER! :(

Saturday was meant to be spent reading in Wollaton Park, but the weather decided to be crappy and we ended up staying indoors watching movies. I guess Sunday was pretty much the same. :) The only difference was that Stu had a fire party on Saturday evening, where I met some of his friends. They all seem really nice. A bonfire with wine and good company, what more could I ask for? :)

So, all in all, it was a pretty amazing weekend.

So, song of the day... Dashboard Confessional, Hands Down.

Lyrics are pretty fitting for the mood I'm in.

Breathe in for luck
Breathe in so deep
This air is blessed, you share with me
This night is wild, so calm and dull
These hearts, they race, from self-control
Your legs are smooth, as they graze mine
We're doing fine.
We're doing nothing at all.

My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me
So won't you kill me
So I die happy
My heart is yours to fill or burst
To break or bury
Or wear as jewelry
Whichever you prefer

The words are hushed
"Let's not get busted."
Just lay entwined here, undiscovered
Safe in here from all the stupid questions
"Hey did you get some?"
Man, that is so dumb
Stay quiet, stay near, stay close, they can't hear
So we can get some

My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me
So won't you kill me
So I die happy
My heart is yours to fill or burst
To break or bury
Or wear as jewelry
Whichever you prefer

Hands down
This is the best day I can ever remember
Always remember the sound of the stereo
The dim of the soft lights
The scent of your hair, that you twirled in your fingers
And the time on the clock, when we realised it's so late
And this walk that we share together
The streets were wet, and the gate was locked
So I jumped it, and let you in
And you stood at the door with your hands on my waist
And you kissed me like you meant it

And I knew
That you meant it
That you meant it
That you meant it

And I knew
That you meant it
That you meant it

Paperweight

Today's favourite tune: Paperweight, by Joshua Radin and Schuylur Fisk.

Been up all night staring at you
Wondering what's on your mind
I've been this way with so many before
But this feels like the first time
You want the sunrise to go back to bed
I want to make you laugh

Mess up my bed with me
Kick off the covers, I'm waiting
Every word you say I think I should write down
Don't want to forget come daylight

Happy to lay here
Just happy to be here
I'm happy to know you
Play me a song
Your newest one
Please leave your taste on my tongue

Paperweight on my back
Cover me like a blanket

Mess up my bed with me
Kick off the covers I'm waiting
Every word you say I think I should write down
Don't want to forget come daylight

And no need to worry
That's wastin' time
And no need to wonder
What's been on my mind
It's you
It's you
It's you

Every word you say I think I should write down
Don't want to forget come daylight

And i give up
I let you win
You win 'cause I'm not counting

You made it back
To sleep again
Wonder what you're dreaming

Such amazing, amazing lyrics. I wish everyone walked around talking like that. There would literally be no hate around the world, haha....

Went to town for most of the day today. Helped Stu pick out new shoes and basically hung out doing nothing. Bought 3 new books, even though I am basically skint. The Catcher In The Rye, by J.D. Salinger (finally! I've got a copy to read!), The Last Song, by Nicholas Sparks (I think I am gonna weep when I read this) and I Kill, a crime novel by Giorgio Faletti (which really was a last minute buy to fulfil the 3 for 2 offer).

Went to Market Bar at night after pre-drinks at Laura's. I think everyone's pretty out of it, haha...

Apparently everyone did amazing for their exams, feeling really nervous and scared for mine now, which are coming out around next week.

In the end Market Bar was just too crowded, so we (Kelly, Holly, Neil and I) took a cab to Jubilee Campus to light a Chinese lantern. All went well until a huge gust of wind flung our lantern into the trees on the opposite side of the lake. Luckily the trees didn't catch fire, haha.

Overall it's been another great day, albeit a really tiring one. :)

Of World Cup, Movies and Music

Much has happened the past week or so.

First, World Cup is once again upon us. Last Saturday, England played USA and because of a stupid mistake England's goalkeeper made, the match ended with a draw.
It was Hannah's birthday, and so I went over to Rik's for drinks and such. Because I'm a girl and have absolutely zero interest in football, I put on a Guns n Roses T-shirt on. And because I'm very possibly blind and was in a rush, I failed to notice my top had the American flag in the background. Major fashion faux pas!
I believe Mike and Rik threatened to beat me up and throw me out, if memory serves me correctly!

On Monday, I went out with Stuart (hi if you're reading!) for Wagamama's (which I still can't believe he'd never been to before!) and a movie. We saw Brooklyn's Finest, which turned out to be quite good, although it was incredibly violent and brutal. Can you imagine if it really happens like that in real life? My god. Overall, I had a really good time :)

Tuesday was spent at home. Holly and Kelly came over for our long awaited Movie Day. Yes, you heard right, Movie Day! A whole day of movies! We watched all the girly films that guys would never watch with us. He's Just Not That Into You, The Hangover and New Moon... Had so much fun! I miss having girlfriends to giggle with and talk about silly things like we were 16 again. I'm gonna miss Kelly so much when she goes back home this summer. At least Holly will be here, and staying in the same place as me!
Of course, with movies come the natural desire to stuff our faces. I have NEVER had so much junk food in such a short time before. Needless to say, I went to bed on a sugar high and feeling sick to the core.

Ok I'm gonna end this post with my current favourite song. Yes it is by Miley Cyrus and I know I'm supposed to hate her for some unknown reason, but it's a pretty good song. It's from the soundtrack for a new movie The Last Song, which is based on a Nicholas Sparks book. I'm gonna hunt for this book! Love Nicholas Sparks and his romance stories.
So here it is. Leave judgement at the door and just give it a listen :)

Everybody needs inspiration,
Everybody needs a soul.
A beautiful melody,
When the nights are long.
'Cause there is no guarantee,
That this life is easy.

And when my world is falling apart.
When there's no light to break up the dark,
That's when I,
I,
I look at you.
When the waves are flooding the shore,
And I can't find my way home anymore.
That's when I,
I,
I look at you.

When I look at you,
I see forgiveness,
I see the truth.
You love me for who I am,
Like the stars hold the moon,
Right there where they belong,
Aand I know I'm not alone.

Yeah when my world is falling apart,
When there's no light to break up the dark,
That's when I,
I,
I look at you.
When the waves are flooding the shore,
and I can't find my way home anymore,
That's when I,
I,
I look at you.

You,
Appear just like a dream to me.
Just like kaleidoscope colours,
That cover me,
All I need,
Every breath that I breathe,
Don't you know you're beautiful

When the waves are flooding the shore,
And I can't find my way home anymore,
That's when I,
I,
I look at you,
I look at you.

You,
Appear just like a dream to me.

I love the lyrics. I think lyrics are kind of like poems put to a tune. Lyrics are so important. They can speak to a person. I can't think of a time where lyrics did not move me.

Right, now that I've sufficiently made myself out to be as insane as possible... :)
