Master of Science, Snow and 25 days to Christmas!

I meant to write this post 2 weeks ago, but I've been busy.

I GOT MY MASTERS, BITCHES!!!

I got my results back from university 2 weeks ago. When I woke up on Monday morning, I suddenly remembered that results would be posted online, and so I rushed to check it out. When I saw on the portal under "Qualification Awarded" it said "MSc", I literally bounced around for joy. I rang Stuart immediately, since he knew how nervous I was about my results, and he didn't pick up immediately. He rang me back at once and I wanted to scream down the phone but Tsomo was still sleeping, heh. I called Mom and Dad right after that to tell them the good news. Right now I'm just waiting for the right certificates and letters to apply for my Post-Study Work visa. In between I've been applying for jobs, but no news on that right now.

Weather in Nottingham has been ridiculously cold for November. Granted, it is the last day of November today, but it's been SNOWING. I don't remember it snowing in November last year. Apparently it's been snowing so bad that schools and colleges in Nottinghamshire have closed. There are lots of happy children around, haha! As much as I love how the snow makes everything look so pretty and wintry and Christmasy, I absolutely hate it when it melts and freezes over, making everything icy and slippery. I had to go out to the post office today to send a book I managed to sell on Amazon.co.uk, and it's horrible. I'm so afraid of slipping and falling straight on my ass! Apparently the snow's going to get much worse. Some parts of the UK are affected really badly, with people snowed in and unable to get groceries because the stores couldn't get stock in.

Stu and I were talking about Thanksgiving a while back, and we decided that it's silly that Thanksgiving isn't celebrated here, and so I decided to make Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday. I was going to make Thanksgiving dinner on Friday, but it was Mongolian Independence Day, so Tsomo made dinner instead and invited Jokha, Subha and James over. We played a few drinking games after dinner, which was very yummy, but I didn't get very far. Halfway through chatting and playing poker, I suddenly noticed it was snowing outside and practically screamed "IT'S SNOWING!". Tsomo and I were so excited and we ran downstairs to jump around in the snow and take pictures. The boys were all losers and stayed inside.

Saturday was spent in bed nursing a hangover, watching movies and having Chinese takeaway from Ocean City, conveniently located across the street. Did I mention that I love living so close to the city? Hehe!

I'm just sitting in bed now listening to Christmas songs. ONLY 25 DAYS TO CHRISTMAS!!! :) Pretty obvious I can't wait for Christmas, heh. Won't be the same without Uncle Francis, though. Sigh. It'll be the first Christmas without him, and it'll definitely be difficult to get through, since Christmas was always one of his favourite holidays and he always made a huge deal out of it.

Oh wells. I'm off for another cup of nice hot tea and to listen to more Christmas songs.

Early Christmas presents :)

So, Stu and I were supposed to keep our Christmas presents for each other a secret, but it got way too tempting. So on Monday, when we were walking to Peachy Keens to have dinner, we decided not to keep it a secret any longer. :)

I got Stu tour passes to Silverstone, since he's such an avid Formula One fan. Stu got me the most amazing present I've ever gotten (after the iPod from Uncle Francis), and it so happened that it was on my Christmas list! He got me a HTC Desire Z! Stu said he saw my blog post with my Christmas list after he'd ordered the phone, so it seemed like he'd read it and then got something off my list. Haha. It got delivered to his work yesterday after he'd left, and he very cleverly said he was going to Budgens to pick up some stuff for dinner, when he'd actually called a taxi and went all the way back to work to pick it up. :)

I LOVE MY NEW PHONE!!! It's sleek and gorgeous and really easy to use! It also has all these amazing apps that I could never get to work on my Nokia N97, which is now going to go to my dad. I LOVE MY PHONE! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! :) :) :)

On another note, I LOVE MY AWESOME BOYFRIEND TOO! :) :) :)

Well, since we'd effectively 'ruined' Christmas Day (we didn't really, but meh), we decided we'd get each other another gift each to be opened on Christmas morning. I was at a loss at what to get Stuart, but then I suddenly had a brainwave, and so I've already purchased his second present. I hope he likes it. :)

We're going to London this weekend for the last F1 race of the year (I think). Dave will be driving us, so we've all made our own roadtrip mixes. Mine is AWESOME. (hehe)

I'm going to end this post here now. Going to play Angry Birds on my phone! *squeaks happily* :) :) :)

Geez, I used a lot of smiley faces in this post. Heh.

Settling in properly

So, things have been going great.

I got my results back last week. They're not great, in fact some of them are quite shitty, but it's still not too bad. I got 58 for my dissertation, which I'm quite psyched about. Still haven't got back the marks for the examinations I re-sat in the summer. Just got to wait on those to come back before I get my overall mark for my degree.

I FINALLY set up the account for the flat to pay council tax. Turns out we have to pay about £200 between the two of us! Ridiculous! :(

Halloween was spent in Ocean. Holly went as a dead girl, and I went as a cowgirl (with the boots and hat and everything!). Ocean was packed and we ended up going back around 1am because it was boiling hot and some dickhead threw a full bottle of VK into the crowded dancefloor and it went all over both of us, ruining an otherwise good night.

On Sunday, Stu and I were invited to Dave and Hayley's for Sunday lunch and to book our holiday to Prague. It's all booked now, and we're going to Prague on my birthday! Woohoo! Of course, this is if I get my visa in time.

I bought a few simple cross-stitch pieces from John Lewis. I forgot how much I loved to do that. I wonder if the sewing books that Uncle Francis gave me are still around. I'm doing a small piece right now, of Mr. Happy. Unfortunately I've run out of the red thread for the balloon Mr. Happy is holding, so the piece is still unfinished. Grr.

Stuart and I have been playing Rock Band a lot lately. I bought Rock Band 3, which came out recently, and Lego Rock Band last week, and we spent this weekend playing Rock Band which is awesome! :)

Anyways, I can't think of anything to get Stuart for Christmas. Boys are so hard to get gifts for. Girls are a breeze! Of course, no one should ever give gift vouchers, unless they're someone you don't know very well. Otherwise it's just really impersonal.

I'm gonna put together a list of things I want for Christmas (because I'm very bored and Veronica Mars is over.). Obviously, a lot of them are impractical or simply wishful thinking, but whatever, it's MY list! :)

  1. Jennifer Aniston Eau de Parfum
  2. A job
  3. Digital camera
  4. Get my ears pierced
  5. Chanel classic flap bag
  6. Ugg boots
  7. New glasses
  8. Seventeen nail polish in Raspberry Mocha
  9. ASOS black leather aviator jacket
  10. HTC Desire Z
Hmm, my list isn't that long actually, which surprises me a lot, haha! Can't wait for Christmas! :)
