Eurovision 2010

Yay! Exams are all done now, so it's time to chillax and just have some fun before getting down to dissertation (ugh).

Anyone catch Eurovision on Saturday? I saw it with Rik, Alec and Tom when I was over at theirs for takeaway and drinks. Didn't catch all of it, but saw some other clips on Youtube.

Eurovision is a great idea! Whoever came up with it is seriously a genius! It's like a gigantic comedy show. Laughed so hard at some of the acts, I swear I almost cracked a rib. Ok, obviously not trying to insult any of the countries which joined, but seriously, are those acts the best they could get?

Here's a clip of the winner, Germany.

Really? THIS won? A Cockney-sounding German? Ok then...

Other than that, I'm BORED BORED BORED.

Never Say Never

So yes, I'm going to try and update this dusty little blog a little more often.

First, an awesome song by the Fray, which are one of the greatest bands. Such meaningful lyrics.

I first heard this song on the Brothers movie trailer, which by the way is a really cool movie with the gorgeous Jake Gyllenhaal, but I digress.

Such an emotional song.

Some things we don't talk about
Better do without
Just hold a smile
We're falling in and out of love
The same damn problem

Together all the while
You can never say never
Why we don't know when
Time and time again
Younger now then we were before

Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go

Picture you're the queen of everything
As far as the eye can see
Under your command
I will be your guarian
When all is crumbling
Steady your hand

You can never say never
Why we don't know when
Time and time again
Younger now then we were before

Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go

We're falling apart
And coming together again and again
We're coming apart
But we hold it together
Hold it together, together again

Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go
Don't let me go

Things have been happening so fast in my life. Sometime too fast. I don't know if I'm ready to move on to new things. Sometimes I wish I could be 17 again, when life was so much easier back then, and life didn't seem all that complicated.

It seems a lifetime ago that I first came to the UK. 17 years old, fresh out of high school/ junior college. And now, 22, and in another 6 months or so, might be leaving the UK, maybe even for good.

I don't know if I'm ready to leave. A lot of life experiences have been had here. Good memories, good friends. It's going to be pretty damn hard to leave it all behind. But then it never really was home, although it was a good substitute in the beginning.

Home. What they say is true. You never truly leave home. It always is, and will be, a part of you.

But do I want to forge my own path out into the great unknown and create my own adventures? Sure, I do.

Conflicting emotions and thoughts.

Twilight Crazed

**This is a LOOOONG overdue blog post. Just thought I'd publish it since my blog lacks posts, and then put up a real post after this.**

My God. There's almost no point to me having a blog, is there? I don't seem to update alot. Hmph.

I have been OBSESSED with the Twilight books.

Unless you've been living under a rock, the new Twilight movie New Moon opened in theatres just a few weeks back.

And man, is it good!

Just the first week of it opening, I had already seen it 3 times! That's just how much I'm obsessed with the series.

If any of you haven't read the books yet, which by the way is immensely shocking, then what are you waiting for?! READ THEM!!

Just for everyone's interest, I'm gonna dedicate this entry entirely to Twilight. I don't care if you think I'm crazy. And read anyways, it's good general knowledge, you know, conversational topic. In case you have a teenage cousin or whatever, you'll definitely have something to talk about. (Of course this is mainly directed to guys. I don't have to worry about girls not like the Twilight saga.)

So...

Books (by Stephanie Meyer)

1. Twilight
2. New Moon
3. Eclipse
4. Breaking Dawn.
5. Midnight Sun (Well, there was supposed to be a fifth book, but the author has decided to put it on hold indefinitely, since some complete ass decided to leak his or her copy of the half-completed draft.)

I finished reading the entire series in a span of roughly 3 weeks. They are, not to say the least, AMAZING.

YES I KNOW IT IS A TEEN BOOK, BUT WHO CARES?!

I would say my favourite is the first book, Twilight, followed very very closely by Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

(Oh yes, by the way, there WILL be spoilers in this entry, so if you don't want to know what happens if you haven't read the books, then stop reading and get out to a bookstore to buy the books!)

Ok, so the series is about a teenage girl, Bella Swan, who moves to Forks, Washington. There she meets a family of vampires ("vegetarian" vampires, because they only drink animal blood), including the one and only, most gorgeous Edward Cullen. He finds her blood (well duh, 'cause he's a vampire) irresistable and he has a gift of hearing people's thoughts, but Bella is the only person ever that he cannot hear. Bella falls in love (WHO WOULDN'T?!) with him, and a beautiful romance begins. Bella also has a best friend, Jacob Black, who loves her all along, and turns out to be a werewolf. Because of this, Jacob has an inherent hatred for vampires, which causes a problem between him and Bella.

The books are all written from Bella's perspective, with the exception of Breaking Dawn, which is split up into 3 parts, and the second part is from Jacob's perspective, and Midnight Sun, which is written from Edward's perspective (particularly interesting, because in the other books, you hardly hear his thoughts.).

Twilight's my favourite because the relationship between Bella and Edward is new and they're just starting to get to know each other. The chemistry between them is almost tangible, probably why practically every girl in the world is so in love with Edward Cullen.

But then again, I love Eclipse and Breaking Dawn equally, the latter perhaps more. Don't like New Moon that much, but it's still pretty good. Edward disappears for a huge part of New Moon, and Jacob steps into the picture, which I really don't like.
Eclipse is great, because Edward's back, and he proposes to Bella (!!!!!), as a condition that she has to marry him before he will agree to change her into a vampire. OBVIOUSLY she would be crazy not to say yes, so you know she eventually agrees. The way he proposes is so romantic, I think my heart seriously stopped for a split second when I was reading that part.
Breaking Dawn is even better, because Bella and Edward get married! Their wedding, as described in the book, is so gorgeous. This is the reason why I love books. You can imagine the whole thing playing out in your head, and the best thing is, it's different for everyone, because everyone pictures it in different ways. Anyways, what's better than their wedding is their honeymoon. MY GOD, Edward is PERFECT! Taking Bella to Esme Isle (an island that Carlisle, Edward's father, gifted to Esme, his wife) for their honeymoon. God, I felt all jumpy and my heart was going a hundred miles a minute throughout the entire part. It was absolutely fantastic.
Later, Bella gets pregnant with a half-vampire, half-human baby, which complicates the pregnancy, because the baby is so much stronger than Bella, and she almost dies from carrying the child. Rosalie (Edward's sister, who from the beginning almost hates Bella, becomes a caretaker and almost a comrade throughout Bella's pregnancy, as Bella flat out refuses to get rid of the baby, despite Edward's concerns. After the baby girl, Renesmee, is born, Edward changes Bella to save her life, after almost dying from giving birth.
In the next part, Bella is now a newborn vampire. Surprisingly, she doesn't give in to her cravings for human blood, which is common for newborns. Renesmee is reunited with her mother, and their relationship grows extremely close.

(I'm listening to the songs from both Twilight and New Moon movies, and some of them, especially the New Moon soundtrack, are so sad, I'm actually crying now! God, I'm pathetic.)

It's not hard to understand why every girl loves Edward. He is, very literally, the perfect, most ideal, boyfriend in the universe. Plus the fact that he's a vampire. But even, without that factor, he is absolutely perfect.

Guys out there, the bar's gone WAAAY up now.

Sigh... I want an Edward Cullen. Where's my Edward Cullen?! I wish, huh?

God, my throat is killing me.

Sigh... So many things I wish for...
