4 weeks in the new house :)

It's been almost 4 weeks since we've moved into the new apartment. We're settling quite nicely I think, and the house is looking more homey now.

We hosted our first Grand Prix gathering for the Valencia Grand Prix last Sunday. We decided that everything had to be themed, the food, the drinks, so we had a huge shop at Tesco for tapas and ingredients for sangria. Stuart made the sangria, which turned out quite lethal. It was also an incredibly hot day, so after the race, we sat outside on the balcony sunning ourselves.

Last week was uneventful work-wise. Wasn't mega happy about some stuff, but hey, everyone has bad days at work. Also managed to register successfully at the NHS health centre near the new apartment.

On Friday, Barratts (our developer) organised a resident's barbeque on the roof garden. Stuart and I headed there after work and we met a few of our neighbours. They're all really lovely people (with amazing jobs!) and we ended up staying on the roof garden till quite late at night, chatting and hanging out with everyone.

On Saturday, Hayley and Dave came to stay. They'd come down to London to watch the Hayes-Klitschko fight at JonP's and Emma's. They arrived in London at about 10am, so Stuart and I got ready (I got ready in record time, might I add!). Hayley and Dave dropped off their stuff in the apartment, we gave them the mandatory home tour and then we headed out to see the sights of London. It was a really lovely day, so we headed to Waterloo and walked on the South Bank, where Hayley and Dave had ice cream and Stuart and I had frozen mango yoghurt. After that, we headed to London Bridge for lunch at Vapiano's. No one really wanted to have a proper sit down lunch, but I insisted on it, and it turned out that everyone really enjoyed their lunch! Dave, Hayley and Stuart all had pizzas, whilst I had my usual Aglio E Olio pasta with extra bacon and mushrooms. Yum!

After lunch, we ventured into the Tate Modern, where we stayed for about 5 minutes before Stuart started whinging about modern art and how he hated it. So we left and walked across the Millenium Bridge to St. Paul's Cathedral. Along the way, a string quartet were playing, a small crowd had gathered to listen to them, and they were playing one of my favourite classical pieces, Pachelbel's Cannon in D. We listened till they finished the song, and Hayley and Dave snapped a few photos of the cathedral before we decided to head to The Lord Raglan, a pub near St. Paul's tube station, for a few drinks.

We then headed back to our apartment and then to Tesco to buy some drinks and snacks for the fight, after which we headed to JonP's and Emma's house. I'm not a fan of boxing or any sort of fighting sport, but it was quite exciting. I found myself on the edge of my seat, rooting for Klitschko, who won in the end. The fight ended quite late and we were all knackered so we fell asleep around JonP's and Emma's. When I woke up at 1am from what was supposed to be a 20 minute nap (I'd overslept!), I woke everyone up and we took a taxi back to Canada Water.

Sunday was relatively slower compared to Saturday. We went to Buckingham Palace and then Green Park for a picnic before we decided to head back because Dave and Hayley wanted to avoid the Sunday traffic back to Nottingham. Stuart and I then spent the rest of the evening chilling out and watching Stargate SG-1 :)

New apartment

It looks like I only ever update my blog monthly. LOL.

I thought I would start a video blog, but I've basically given up on that already. Back to writing for me!

WELL. This past weekend (and the weekend before) has certainly been action-packed and eventful.

We've officially moved in to the new apartment! It is AWESOME.

Stuart has his own room, and I will take the master bedroom. My room has an ensuite room with a shower. Stuart's bathroom is opposite his room, and is also the guest bathroom (although if people want to use my bathroom, I'm not going to refuse them!).

On Friday, I had to take a half-day off to meet the developers for completion of the house and the handover. At 4pm, we met up with a lady called Shirley and the site manager Paul and were brought around for a home tour. Everything in the building looks nice and clean and new, and smells like fresh paint.

We were brought up to our apartment and got to see it for the very first time, which was extremely exciting. It's been almost 3 months since we actually decided we were going to buy the place. The Spacia flooring which I wanted to be fitted in the living room and hallway was not completely finished, because the flooring guy was waiting for extra material to be delivered, so for now, we've got a small unfinished section in the hallway at the door. Other than that, I'm quite happy with how the flooring looks and feels.
(*Update* The flooring guy Paul called Stuart and arranged to come tomorrow to finish off the flooring, so hopefully we will have the hallway all done by tomorrow evening! Yay!)

The furniture from Hatch was all put in the apartment as well. I picked a beige L-shaped sofa, and it was huge! Much bigger than in the pictures that Elaine, the lady I've been liaising with, sent me! It is super comfortable and can easily fit 4 - 6 people on it.

(By the way, I will upload pictures soon, it's just that I have no internet connection at home, so it's a little difficult to do that.)

After the home tour, I had to do the legal stuff and sign some papers, and then Shirley brought us over to see the gym (which is open 24 hours, seven days a week) and meet our concierge, Roland (the Gunslinger, anyone? LOL!) He's really nice, and he will be there to collect any parcels that we might get delivered to the new apartment.

After that, Stuart and I went back to the flat and chilled out for a while on the giant couch whilst waiting for the rain to stop. We then went back to Barbican to have dinner and to move the first load of stuff in our 2 large suitcases. Moving on the tube is ridiculously tedious and painful. People keep getting in our way and barging past us to get on the train. HELLO?! Can you not see us struggling with 2 massive suitcases?! Idiots.

After the first batch, we were really tired, and it was getting quite late, so we decided to call it a night. We then went to the Tesco Extra just round the corner to get sheets and pillows and other bits and pieces. Poor Stuart's heel was hurting from his new shoes, so he was limping back and forth in the rain. (I did offer him my umbrella, but he insisted he didn't want to look like an idiot limping under a polka dotted umbrella. I said he still looked like an idiot limping in the rain.)

We got back from Tesco (in the rain, again. It stopped whilst we were inside and then started the moment we stepped out. Sigh.) and went to bed almost immediately because we were both knackered.

And now I haven't written about it I've kind of forgotten bits and I'm now bored of writing about this.

We've been in the new apartment for about 2 weeks now. It's kind of surreal. It's home. Home. A long time since I've considered any place a proper home. Everything's mostly settled now. There were a few defects in the new house, but we have a customer service guy who helps us deal with that stuff. We tell him if we're unhappy with something, and he tries his best to fix it.

We've had 2 trips to Ikea, both of which were really fun but tiring. The first one involved a 2.5 hour taxi ride back and the second trip involved us carrying a curtain pole on the tube. Fun times.

I really need to get better at this 'updating my blog' thing.

Right, so where did we leave off?

Ah, yes! I went back to Nottingham to pack up and move the last bits and pieces with Stuart, and Carly and Rob both very kindly helped to move everything to Stuart's and Carly's dad's place. Surprisingly, it took only 2 trips to move all our junk! We also had to stop off at a B & Q to pick up an electric hob for Stu's Crown Street house because the old one was a gas hob and had to be disconnected or something. After moving stuff, we had a barbeque because the weather was so gorgeous. It was really nice to sit outside and chill out. In April!
The neighbour's dog Bluebell came over at some point with her yellow ball, and we tossed it a couple of times around for her to catch. She wasn't exactly a very bright dog, because she put her ball in the bird bath, and when we pretended to throw it, she ran off to catch the imaginary ball. Towards the end, Stuart threw her ball over the garage roof to the back garden and she disappeared, re-appearing without her ball, looking everywhere for it. Stu had lost her ball! Poor Bluebell!

We left around 8pm, and made our way to Tesco to get some drinks and snacks, as we were staying over at Carly and Rob's place in Derby. Their house is really lovely. I hope that when I get my apartment with Stuart, I will keep it as tidy as theirs. We basically just chilled out all night, chatting over drinks, and played Mortal Kombat on Rob's PS3. He is really good at it! After that, we tried out the Playstation Move with some game I've forgotten the name of. We finally went to bed at almost 5am. I don't remember the last time I went to sleep that late (or that early!).
When we woke up, Carly made us a yummy breakfast of bacon and scrambled eggs, and we watched some terrible TV show called Gladiators or something. After that, we watched some programme about Princess Diana's life before we left for Nottingham.

The next few days were just spent chilling out and packing things into 2 large suitcases that we were taking down to London with us. It felt weird when Stuart went to work on Tuesday and I stayed in bed (I'd taken 3 days off work to help with the move). Felt kind of nice too, because it was just like when I was unemployed before, and Stu went to work and I stayed home. Kind of miss that now, especially the sleeping in. I hate my alarm clock with a vengeance more than ever nowadays.
Stuart decided to leave work for the last time at lunch time, so I met him at the main Post Office in town to set up the redirection thing for our mail. It felt quite surreal, knowing that we were walking through Nottingham for the last time. At about 5.30pm, we got a taxi to the train station to catch our train to London.
When we got to the platform, having gotten our tickets and everything in order, the train to St. Pancras was just pulling into the station, so we walked to our carriage and waited for people to alight. A train conductor (or someone who worked on that train) got off and held the door for us to get on the train, so we did, thinking it was ok to board the train since a member of staff let us on. Stuart struggled to get both massive, heavy suitcases on the train and place them in the baggage compartment, and then we found our seats. A few minutes later, another member of staff came in and very rudely said that we weren't supposed to be on the train, and that we had to get off. The stupidest thing was that the reason we weren't allowed on the train was that we might use the bathroom on board the train whilst it was in the station (his exact words were "it's someone's workplace"), and that we were only allowed to board the train 18 minutes past 6pm (our train was due to leave at 6.38pm). What a ridiculous thing! Plus, we asked if we could leave the heavy suitcases in the baggage compartment, instead of lugging them off to wait on the platform for 5 minutes, and then have to heave them back on again. But no... He insisted we take them out with us. What a douche.

The next few days was spent travelling around London like a tourist. It was quite fun actually! On Wednesday, Stu got it into his head that he wanted to see Little Ben, Big Ben's lesser known little brother! Since it was such a nice day, we decided to walk there. Along the way, we passed by a New Look, so I went in to buy some leggings, since the ones I have had holes in them. I also bought some harem trousers and a grey cardigan. At the checkout, I saw a pair of cute sunglasses, and bought them because I'd lost all my other pairs of sunglasses and I needed a pair at that point in time, because the sun was so bright. At £2.99, it was a steal! It took us another 2 hours to walk to Little Ben, although our journey was broken up by having an ice lolly and lunch (from Marks & Spencers).
We passed by Westminster Abbey on the way to Little Ben and it was PACKED, thanks to the Royal Wedding on Friday. It was ridiculous. People were camping along the road, in preparation to catch a 5 second glimpse of Prince William and Kate Middleton on their wedding day. Bad enough that the pavement was already blocked by the press setting up their cameras and what not!

On Friday, we went to JonP and Emma's house to watch the Royal Wedding, and for a champagne and cream tea breakfast.

And now I'm bored of writing this already long and rambling blog post.

Changes

Well, it's been a hectic few weeks, and I didn't update (as usual!) about my life. Things have changed rather drastically.

So, the job? I'm now a Marketing Assistant with SMi Group! It's really great that I got it, and I'm really happy about it. In fact, I've done 2 weeks there now, and I'm loving the job!

Also, since I last updated, Stu had got an interview at Lovefilm and got offered the job the day after, which is totally awesome!

So, in a nutshell, we both got the first jobs we went for London, and we're both going to be living in the Canada Water apartment once it's ready! Stu has to finish up his notice period at his current job, but he'll be moving down to London soon, so yay!

The only downside to having a job is not having loads of free time and having to wake up really early to get to work every morning. Other than that, this is what I want to do, and I'm determined to make the best of it.
SMi Group is an events and conferencing company, and has about 50 to 60 people working there. I haven't met everybody yet, but those that I have met are all really nice, and it helps a lot that Kan and Vinh work there too, so I've got friends around.

My first week at SMi was great. Got to know the systems and had my inductions and all that. Still unfamiliar, of course, but I'll get the hang of things eventually. At first, I was only doing simple things, but I'm gradually being given more responsibility. I quite enjoy it. My boss is really lovely, and she's been showing me the ropes, along with the girl who sits next to me, who is also really nice.

I've also moved to the temporary accommodation near Barbican tube station. Kan and Vinh very kindly offered to help me move. I stayed with JonP and Emma for a week before the Barbican place was ready, they're brother and sister, who Stu introduced to me. They were such lovely people to do me such a huge favour by letting me stay at their apartment. Now, it'll be another 2 months (hopefully not any longer!) till the Canada Water property will be ready.

I came back up to Nottingham last week for Stuart's birthday and also to help pack up more things and bring more stuff down to London. Also went to Stu's friends' Vlad and Jo's 10th wedding anniversary, which was very enjoyable. I also came back up this weekend for more packing and moving. (in fact, I'm blogging on the train!). Went to Stu's dad's house for Sunday dinner with his sister Carly and her boyfriend Rob. She very kindly offered to help move some things from Nottingham to Pleasley, where his dad's house is. Carly's also offered to help move the last bits of things next Saturday when she's not working, bless her!

It's rather strange being so far away from Stu these past few weeks, but it's only for another 4 days! This Friday's Good Friday, so it's a long weekend, so I'm gonna make another trip up to Nottingham for the final move, and Stu will be travelling back down to London with me. I'm also taking 3 days leave, which gives me an 11 day weekend, since the weekend after next is also a bank holiday weekend, thanks to the royal wedding! Should be able to get packing and moving done and get properly settled in by then!

Wow, this is a long post! Probably another few weeks before I update again, so savour this one, haha!

Job and moving to London

So, as you all know, I went down to London last Friday for my second interview. It went really well, and I quite enjoyed myself. After that, I waited in the lounge area for Kan and Vinh to finish work, and we went to get dinner at Vapiano again. Andy and Kan's friend Cynthia met us there as well. Stuart also decided to come down to meet me and spend the weekend in London.

After dinner, we went to Emma's house. We chatted awhile with Emma before we all went to bed, as we'd all had a very long day. On Saturday morning, I got a message from my brother, saying that my mother wanted me to check out a property development in Canada Water. Since Emma's house was close by, we decided to go there before we had lunch in Canary Wharf. When we got there, there was a marketing suite, so I decided to have a chat with a sales person. Stu and Emma had some drinks and hor d'oeuvres whilst they waited for me. After I got a brochure and price list and spoke to my parents, we left for Canary Wharf and went to a funky Mexican restaurant called Wahaca for a very delicious and filling lunch. After that, Emma and I wandered into Zara to do a spot of shopping before going our separate ways so that Emma could do some of her acting rehearsal stuff.

Over the weekend, we went back to Canada Water to look at Fairmont House again for my parents. After that, we decided to go to lunch at the Korean restaurant just outside Holborn tube station, but unfortunately it was closed. Stu and I walked back and forth for awhile trying to look for somewhere to eat at, and finally settled on a small sushi place. Whilst we were eating, Stu spotted a Krispy Kreme shop across the road, and we headed over there after we were finished with lunch. We bought a dozen doughnuts to bring back to Nottingham. :)

We then headed to Leicester Square, where we visted Rendezvous for the yummy ice-cream. I had rum and raisin and pistachio, Stu had coconut. We stayed there for awhile chatting about the future and our potential move to London and whether we could afford living in London. After that, we walked to Chinatown. I remembered seeing a Singapore-Malaysian cafe when I'd gone to see Les Miserables with my brother two summers ago, and so Stu very nicely waited for me whilst I had a curry laksa, one of my favourite foods that I miss so much. I also bought some Malay desserts to take back to Nottingham. After that, we went to collect our bags and made our way to St Pancras train station. We got there pretty early and had to wait around for the train to arrive. We only arrived back in Nottingham at about 10.30pm.

On Wednesday, I got a call from SMi Group (the company I interviewed at), offering me the job! :) I said yes, and so from April 4th, I will be a Marketing Assistant at SMi Group! :) :) :)

I'm just so glad now that I am going to starting a new job, and one that I think I'll really enjoy!

Oh, also! I spoke to Dad on Wednesday afternoon as well, and he asked me if I liked Fairmont House at Canada Water. I replied that I did, and so my brother and I will be joint houseowners! In fact, they've already taken a deposit fee, so the house will be ours very soon! :) I'm really looking forward to moving into the apartment and furnishing the place!

However, because the apartment isn't fully completed yet, and is estimated to be completed in May or June 2011, I've had to look for somewhere to stay short term before moving into the new place. So I will be staying in a studio flat near Barbican temporarily.

It will suck being away from Stuart, but kind of exciting to start working too. And a proper job, in the field that I really enjoy as well! I'm really happy that everything is panning out and working out properly! :)

There's more to update about, but this post is rather long already, and I'm getting quite tired, so it's bye for now! :)

Job Hunting

So, for the past few weeks, I've been busy with job hunting. It's been difficult, and at times, emotional, having to deal with endless rejections.

I'm actually on the train to London at the moment, on my way to my second interview. This is my second trip to London this week. On Monday, I travelled to London for an intial interview. I was set a task to do, which I did and sent back on Wednesday. To my delight, they called me soon after and arranged another interview on Friday.

I hope this goes well. Potentially, I would then be moving down to London. Whilst this makes me sad because I would be leaving some dear friends back in Nottingham, it's also kind of exciting to start a new job and meet new people.

I haven't written a blog post about Prague (which was amazing) yet. I promise, I will write one once things settle down a bit.

So, fingers crossed. I'll update when I get news, good or bad. Hopefully good. :)

February-ing

It's February already! Wow, time flies.

In less than 2 weeks it will be Valentine's Day, and in 16 days it'll be my 23rd birthday. Boy, I'm getting old!

This will be our first Valentine's Day together. I'm kind of stuck on what to get Stu for Valentine's Day. When I asked him, he said "Valentine's Day is for girls. You don't have to get me anything.", and then we proceeded to have a lengthy discussion about the origin of Valentine's Day. Stu says it's a corporate holiday invented by Hallmark, whilst I maintain that Valentine's Day came about because of a monk called Valentine, who was jailed for not giving up his religious beliefs, and fell in love with the jailer's daughter, writing letters to her signed "From your Valentine". He became sainted and Valentine's Day came about because of St. Valentine.

My version is so much more romantic. AND it's probably true.

It's Chinese New Year on Wednesday, and tomorrow I'll be Skype-ing with my family when they gather at my aunt's house for the reunion dinner on Chinese New Year Eve. I'd planned to be with them this year, after missing many years of Chinese New Year festivities because of uni here, but sadly, thanks to the visa application taking forever to process, I have to miss another year of seeing my family at Chinese New Year.

Stu got my birthday present already. I was on ASOS looking at stuff (looking, not buying! I have been true to my word (or New Year's resolution) and have not gone shopping since New Year's!) and I saw a pair of strappy wedges that I really liked, and so I jokingly asked if he could buy them for me as my birthday present. Surprisingly, he said yes! So he bought them, and on Saturday a box was delivered by a very nice deliveryman. But now, he won't let me open the box! :( I already know what it is, so why can't I open it?! So frustrating.

Right, I'm off now. Going to have a quick shower and then get ready to pop into town for some V-day present hunting (which does not count towards the New Year's resolution of not shopping, since whatever I buy is not for myself!). :)

*********************
As you can probably see, I've added a new little gizmo on my blog, showing you shows I've watched recently. It's a really cool website I use (Stuart introduced me to it) to "check in" to TV shows or movies I watch. It's called Miso, and you can earn badges for checking into shows and movies. You can even add shows if they aren't already on there. You can also follow people who watch the same stuff as you. It's really cool.

P.S. I'm in no way paid to write an advertorial for them, so there's no benefit or advantage in me writing this. I just think the website is pretty cool, that's all. :)

Weird dreams

Lately I've been having very vivid but weird dreams. Not all of them are bad dreams per se, but weird nonetheless.

The one I had last night was a particularly weird one. I was in a giant theme park kind of place with my brother and my little cousin, only I was my age, but my brother was much younger than me (he's only 1 year apart from me), and my cousin looked like when she was about six. In the dream, I distinctly remembered that I was with a group of friends before, and I had asked them if they'd wanted to come with us to the theme park, but they said no, so we'd left without them.

The scene changed to a cinema type place in this theme park. I don't remember what film it was showing, but I'd walked out holding my little cousin's hand and my brother following us, with the distinct feeling of being quite happy.

Next thing I remember, I see Stuart with my group of friends from before, walking past me, so of course I stop and say hello. I also said "I thought you guys didn't want to come to the theme park?". One of the girls in the group (who felt very much like a frenemy and was 13 from House (Olivia Wilde)) spoke up, "Oh, you didn't ask us to come along.", to which I angrily retorted "Yes, I did! I asked you and you guys didn't want to come!". She shrugged in a really annoying nonchalant manner and started walking off, and the rest of the group sort of follow her in a really robotic way. I look at Stuart and he stares right through me and walks off with the rest of the group, leaving me feeling small and very hurt.

Have you ever had the kind of dream where you knew it was a dream and you kept thinking, wake up, wake up right now because I don't want to be here any more, but try as you might, you couldn't? This dream was exactly like that, and all the feelings I felt in the dream, I could feel in real life. When I finally woke up, I felt like the dream was so real, and for that one irrational moment, I thought that it actually was happening in real life.

The night before I'd had a similar sort of lucid dream as well, only it was scarier and involved a lot of running around (I was running from a serial killer who tortured his victims in a dingy hospital operating room kind of setting before he murdered them), so that when I woke up I actually felt physically and mentally exhausted.

I remember a very vivid dream, that to this very day, I remember every single detail. I was a Jew, living in the time of the Holocaust. I remember having to run and hide from the Nazi soldiers, and the constant fear and terror I felt. In my dream I wept as I watched my world around fall apart. When I woke up, my pillow was wet, and I realised that the emotions I'd felt in my dream were so strong that I'd actually cried in real life.

But then there are nights where I don't think I dream at all. It's just a huge black blank between falling asleep and suddenly, the next thing I know, I'm waking up. It's bizzare.

Stuart says I'm a weirdo. I don't know. I actually quite like that I have weird dreams. Means that I have a good imagination and an active subconscious, haha! :)

Right, what's the point of this blog again? Sigh.

2011 isn't off to a great start, sadly.

Postman comes banging on my door this morning, and I get an official looking letter, and I think "Oh my god, yay! The visa people were nice and rushed my application and they've sent it back already!" But, no. Wait a minute, it's a rejection letter.

Bloody fucking incredible.

Apparently they rejected it because the bank rejected the payment. Which is ridiculous because Dad got a message from them saying that the UK Home Office was taking the money. ARGH!

So anyways, I've now filled in a new application form, and am going to go through it (ALL OVER AGAIN, AS IF THE FIRST TIME WASN'T ENOUGH!!!) tonight.

It's super annoying. I suppose it's not a massive deal, but anyone who's had to deal with visa stuff can attest to how much red tape one has to jump through and stupid mundane questions one has to fill out on these application forms.

Other than that, Christmas was great. Stu and I spent Christmas Eve in Nottingham. I made a turkey and everything!

We were invited to Ken and Kay's (Stuart's dad and his partner) place for Christmas dinner, so on Christmas morning, his dad came to pick us up. We had a lovely time chatting in front of a gorgeous fire, and then went to see Jo (Stuart's mom), after which we walked back to Stuart's house.

On Boxing Day, we went over to Ken and Kay's house again for lunch and spent most of the day in front of the fire again. We left around 8pm to see Hayley and Dave at the Sir John Cockle, where I also had my very first pub quiz! There was a music quiz which we won (no thanks to me, although I did know the title of one song, You Raise Me Up, by the way, haha.) and the other normal quiz, which we didn't win, but it was great fun nonetheless. We finished at about 11.30pm and caught a taxi back to Crown Street.

Oh, some bad news. Stuart's friend Chloe (who was renting his house) decided to move in with another friend, and so she's moving out of Stu's house quite soon. That means Stuart has to either move back to Mansfield (which isn't ideal) or get another tenant to rent his house. Poor thing, he's quite stressed out about all this and money stuff.

Right, now on to New Year's resolutions. Last year, I remember making a list which included "Shop less", which lasted about three days, and "Exercise more", which lasted about a day. This year, I'm going to try and make more realistic resolutions.

  1. Join a gym and work out at least 3 times a week, an hour each session.
  2. No shopping from New Year's day up till my birthday. (So far I've kept this one, so I'm doing good!)
  3. Get a job. (Duh.)
  4. Eat less junk food and more fruits and vegetables.
  5. Spend less on going out (eating at restaurants, nights out, etc.)
So, 5 resolutions should last me a year, I think.

Oh yes! Stuart and I have decided to start this thing called Project 365 (I typed 635 a minute ago, lol!). Basically, you take a picture everyday and upload it. Stu showed me this website, http://365project.org/ , which will make it easy to upload pictures and leave a description. Such a brilliant idea.

Right, I'm off to get something to eat now. Haven't eaten all day, thanks to the visa nonsense I've had to deal with. Sigh.

Lovefilm and Graduation Day

Recently Stuart signed up for Lovefilm, which is also accessible on his PS3, so we've been watching quite a lot of films on there.

We also get films on Blu-Ray discs sent to us. We saw Iron Man 1 and 2, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,  and Ratatouille recently. Stuart's catching up on the Harry Potter films because the seventh film is out and he wants to see the earlier ones before we go to the cinema to see Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.

Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian was quite good. I prefer the first one, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, though. Prince Caspian had an awesome song when the credits came on, which I am now totally in love with, and have on repeat. It's a song by Regina Spektor, called The Call.

The lyrics are on the video, so I'm not going to bother posting the lyrics. But it's a truly gorgeous song and always makes me feel like crying.

ANYWAYS...

Graduation Day was yesterday and Stuart took the day off to see me graduate. It was bloody freezing, although not as bad as last week. In fact, it was nice and sunny, which was quite a change from the usual gloomy fog. We didn't stay long after the graduation ceremony, just long enough to take some pictures and then we left for home, where we had lunch and then promptly fell asleep because we were so tired.

We woke up around 5.30pm, just in time to go out for dinner. For a graduation celebration treat, Stuart took me to Sinatra's, which is a totally awesome restaurant just off Angel Row. I had lamb which was quite yummy, but Stuart's steak was gorgeous. I think we'll be going back there again, although maybe not too soon because it was rather pricey.

After dinner, we went to the cinema to see Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale. It's a Finnish film, but it has bits of English in it and is subtitled. It was quite good, although bordering on ridiculous, but still, I quite enjoyed it. When we got home, we watched an Icelandic Film called 101 Reykjavik, which came highly recommended from Stuart. It was interesting, to say the least, but it wasn't too bad, and it was pretty funny at some bits.

Stuart's got his Christmas work dinner tonight, so I'm going to have to scrounge around for some food, hehe. Holly was supposed to come up to Nottingham tonight but her plans fell through so I have nothing to do tonight. Stuart said he wasn't going to stay out late, but then again last time he said that, he came home very drunk at 5am. I really want to get out of the house for a bit, but I have to wait around for a delivery between 3pm and 4pm, so basically I can't go out.

Right. I'm off for a nice hot cup of tea. Hopefully there's something nice on TV.

Oh, and... ONLY 15 DAYS TO CHRISTMAS!!! :) :) :)

Master of Science, Snow and 25 days to Christmas!

I meant to write this post 2 weeks ago, but I've been busy.

I GOT MY MASTERS, BITCHES!!!

I got my results back from university 2 weeks ago. When I woke up on Monday morning, I suddenly remembered that results would be posted online, and so I rushed to check it out. When I saw on the portal under "Qualification Awarded" it said "MSc", I literally bounced around for joy. I rang Stuart immediately, since he knew how nervous I was about my results, and he didn't pick up immediately. He rang me back at once and I wanted to scream down the phone but Tsomo was still sleeping, heh. I called Mom and Dad right after that to tell them the good news. Right now I'm just waiting for the right certificates and letters to apply for my Post-Study Work visa. In between I've been applying for jobs, but no news on that right now.

Weather in Nottingham has been ridiculously cold for November. Granted, it is the last day of November today, but it's been SNOWING. I don't remember it snowing in November last year. Apparently it's been snowing so bad that schools and colleges in Nottinghamshire have closed. There are lots of happy children around, haha! As much as I love how the snow makes everything look so pretty and wintry and Christmasy, I absolutely hate it when it melts and freezes over, making everything icy and slippery. I had to go out to the post office today to send a book I managed to sell on Amazon.co.uk, and it's horrible. I'm so afraid of slipping and falling straight on my ass! Apparently the snow's going to get much worse. Some parts of the UK are affected really badly, with people snowed in and unable to get groceries because the stores couldn't get stock in.

Stu and I were talking about Thanksgiving a while back, and we decided that it's silly that Thanksgiving isn't celebrated here, and so I decided to make Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday. I was going to make Thanksgiving dinner on Friday, but it was Mongolian Independence Day, so Tsomo made dinner instead and invited Jokha, Subha and James over. We played a few drinking games after dinner, which was very yummy, but I didn't get very far. Halfway through chatting and playing poker, I suddenly noticed it was snowing outside and practically screamed "IT'S SNOWING!". Tsomo and I were so excited and we ran downstairs to jump around in the snow and take pictures. The boys were all losers and stayed inside.

Saturday was spent in bed nursing a hangover, watching movies and having Chinese takeaway from Ocean City, conveniently located across the street. Did I mention that I love living so close to the city? Hehe!

I'm just sitting in bed now listening to Christmas songs. ONLY 25 DAYS TO CHRISTMAS!!! :) Pretty obvious I can't wait for Christmas, heh. Won't be the same without Uncle Francis, though. Sigh. It'll be the first Christmas without him, and it'll definitely be difficult to get through, since Christmas was always one of his favourite holidays and he always made a huge deal out of it.

Oh wells. I'm off for another cup of nice hot tea and to listen to more Christmas songs.

Early Christmas presents :)

So, Stu and I were supposed to keep our Christmas presents for each other a secret, but it got way too tempting. So on Monday, when we were walking to Peachy Keens to have dinner, we decided not to keep it a secret any longer. :)

I got Stu tour passes to Silverstone, since he's such an avid Formula One fan. Stu got me the most amazing present I've ever gotten (after the iPod from Uncle Francis), and it so happened that it was on my Christmas list! He got me a HTC Desire Z! Stu said he saw my blog post with my Christmas list after he'd ordered the phone, so it seemed like he'd read it and then got something off my list. Haha. It got delivered to his work yesterday after he'd left, and he very cleverly said he was going to Budgens to pick up some stuff for dinner, when he'd actually called a taxi and went all the way back to work to pick it up. :)

I LOVE MY NEW PHONE!!! It's sleek and gorgeous and really easy to use! It also has all these amazing apps that I could never get to work on my Nokia N97, which is now going to go to my dad. I LOVE MY PHONE! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! :) :) :)

On another note, I LOVE MY AWESOME BOYFRIEND TOO! :) :) :)

Well, since we'd effectively 'ruined' Christmas Day (we didn't really, but meh), we decided we'd get each other another gift each to be opened on Christmas morning. I was at a loss at what to get Stuart, but then I suddenly had a brainwave, and so I've already purchased his second present. I hope he likes it. :)

We're going to London this weekend for the last F1 race of the year (I think). Dave will be driving us, so we've all made our own roadtrip mixes. Mine is AWESOME. (hehe)

I'm going to end this post here now. Going to play Angry Birds on my phone! *squeaks happily* :) :) :)

Geez, I used a lot of smiley faces in this post. Heh.

Settling in properly

So, things have been going great.

I got my results back last week. They're not great, in fact some of them are quite shitty, but it's still not too bad. I got 58 for my dissertation, which I'm quite psyched about. Still haven't got back the marks for the examinations I re-sat in the summer. Just got to wait on those to come back before I get my overall mark for my degree.

I FINALLY set up the account for the flat to pay council tax. Turns out we have to pay about £200 between the two of us! Ridiculous! :(

Halloween was spent in Ocean. Holly went as a dead girl, and I went as a cowgirl (with the boots and hat and everything!). Ocean was packed and we ended up going back around 1am because it was boiling hot and some dickhead threw a full bottle of VK into the crowded dancefloor and it went all over both of us, ruining an otherwise good night.

On Sunday, Stu and I were invited to Dave and Hayley's for Sunday lunch and to book our holiday to Prague. It's all booked now, and we're going to Prague on my birthday! Woohoo! Of course, this is if I get my visa in time.

I bought a few simple cross-stitch pieces from John Lewis. I forgot how much I loved to do that. I wonder if the sewing books that Uncle Francis gave me are still around. I'm doing a small piece right now, of Mr. Happy. Unfortunately I've run out of the red thread for the balloon Mr. Happy is holding, so the piece is still unfinished. Grr.

Stuart and I have been playing Rock Band a lot lately. I bought Rock Band 3, which came out recently, and Lego Rock Band last week, and we spent this weekend playing Rock Band which is awesome! :)

Anyways, I can't think of anything to get Stuart for Christmas. Boys are so hard to get gifts for. Girls are a breeze! Of course, no one should ever give gift vouchers, unless they're someone you don't know very well. Otherwise it's just really impersonal.

I'm gonna put together a list of things I want for Christmas (because I'm very bored and Veronica Mars is over.). Obviously, a lot of them are impractical or simply wishful thinking, but whatever, it's MY list! :)

  1. Jennifer Aniston Eau de Parfum
  2. A job
  3. Digital camera
  4. Get my ears pierced
  5. Chanel classic flap bag
  6. Ugg boots
  7. New glasses
  8. Seventeen nail polish in Raspberry Mocha
  9. ASOS black leather aviator jacket
  10. HTC Desire Z
Hmm, my list isn't that long actually, which surprises me a lot, haha! Can't wait for Christmas! :)

Long awaited post

Wow, almost a month ago since I last blogged.

Ok, quick post before I have to go get ready to go out to dinner with Okkar.

FINALLY!!! I HAVE INTERNET IN MY FLAT! :) :) :)

I heard this song on the new BT advertisement on TV and I'm in love with it! It's called Corner by Allie Moss, and it's such a gorgeous tune.

When your world trembles and quakes
And your footing suddenly shifts and shakes

Take my hand
We'll hide in the corner, hide in the corner
Take my hand
We'll hide till it's over, till it's all over

We have choices to make
We have promises that we can't break

There is nothing left to lose
So hold on to me, I'll hold on to you

Take my hand
We'll hide in the corner, hide in the corner
Take my hand
We'll hide till it's over, till it's all over

So, it's been just over a month since moving into the new flat. I really like it here. If I get a job in Nottingham, I might renew my contract for this flat. It's in a good location and spacious enough. The only drawback is the traffic noise from the road outside. I've almost forgotten what it's like to live in a quiet place.

Things so far are going great. Stuart and I have our ups and downs but it's all part and parcel of being a couple. That's what I love about being in a relationship. Yes, I know it sounds silly that I like the fact that we argue sometimes, but I think it's good for a couple to argue. In fact, arguing is just creative discussion :D Ok whatever. (You can tell I don't actually have a clue what I'm writing, I'm just typing whatever comes to mind as I'm sitting here on the sofa.)We've been talking with his friends David and Hayley about going to Prague for a holiday in January or February. I've never been before but always wanted to, so it'll be good. I just need to have my visa by then so I can actually go in and out of the UK easily.

Job-wise, that's going a bit slow for now. I've put a few applications through but nothing solid has come about yet. Plus, before I actually get my visa it'll be hard to get a job. Might do some work at the charity shop or get a part-time job. Christmas is coming up (CAN'T WAIT!!!) so maybe I can find some temp jobs to earn some extra cash.

Stu and I have been going through How I Met Your Mother pretty fast. Last weekend, we finished half of Season 1 and all of Season 2 (with Stu very drunk on a bottle of JD on Season 2). This weekend will probably be spent doing that. I like weekends where we just sprawl out on the couch and do nothing but watch TV episodes and movies. :)

Moving House

I've moved house!

No more student accommodations! I'm out in the real world, paying proper rent and having to worry about electricity and water bills! Wheeeee!

I'm living with my friend Tsomo from Mongolia in Ropewalk Court, which is really close to town. It's such a convenient location! There's a Budgens less than a minute's walk away and there's a Chinese restaurant right opposite the flat. If I wanted to go into town, it would take only about 10 minutes to walk into the centre of town! Plus, there's a nice pub, Hand & Heart, right downstairs! I love it!

Lovely lovely Stuart took half a day off on Friday to help me pack and move all my and Tsomo's stuff from Opal to the new flat. We packed as much as we could and then we left around 4pm to go to the agent's office to sign contracts and deal with all the paperwork.

Tsomo and I hired a van to move the stuff. It's lucky we did, with the amount of boxes and bags we have! The van guy, Mark, was such a lovely man. He only charged us £25 for the 2 trips it took to move all our belongings, and he even helped carry heavy bags and boxes up to our flat. He provided us with a trolley, and it broke (probably from the sheer weight of our things!)! We felt really bad about it, and gave him £30 instead, since he was so nice and helpful. Tsomo's friend Orod came to give a hand, as did her boyfriend Craig, who was here for the weekend. Thank God for the 4 big strong men!

Surprisingly, the moving in only took about 3 hours. We started pretty late, only getting the keys at 5.30pm. The last box was moved in around 8.30pm, and we lounged around resting for awhile before we headed out to New Ocean City, the Chinese restaurant just right across the road, for a well-deserved dinner (especially for the guys!).

The weekend was spent unpacking and tidying up. We had our first "family" dinner, as Tsomo put it, on Sunday. Stu and I made apple crumble (which was OH-MY-GOD-deliciously-yummy-as-hell) and Tsomo and Craig made beef and onion cous-cous, which was also very, very tasty.

I'm looking forward to this week. Aside from having to work like mad to finish up my dissertation, which is totally doable, I'm sure, the 32" TV I've ordered is arriving either tomorrow or on Thursday, which means we can watch stuff on a nice, big screen, and Stu can finally play on his PS3 (that, I'm not so thrilled about :P) We're also having a housewarming party on Friday, which'll be fun. I've also been slowly packing stuff away and throwing away things I don't need. Next step is to sort through my piles of clothes and shoes and give anything I don't want to charity. Then after that, job hunting shall ensue! I'll have a mini-break after my dissertation's handed in, and then start applying for jobs. I'm pretty sure it won't be easy to find one, given the current economic climate.

Ok, that's all for now. Stu should be back soon, so I'm gonna go start preparing dinner. :)

The Doors tribute band, drunken antics and stomach flu

Hmm, more than a week since I've updated.

I'm starting to really like 30 Seconds to Mars. Jared Leto (who starred in Requiem for a Dream) is lead singer of the band. I made a horrifyingly embarrassing mistake the other day when I asked Stu what band was Jay Leno in, when I meant Jared Leto. Haha! I always mix up the two.

Anyways, I'm putting up my two favourite songs from the band. I think Jared Leto's voice is pretty amazing. Maybe if he didn't scream as much, it would be even better.

A Beautiful Lie

Closer to the Edge

This song sounds a little like Chris Daughtry's Feels Like Tonight, especially the chorus. I've posted the song below so you can listen and compare.

Chris Daughtry looks a little like Vin Diesel. Ok, random comment. Heh.

Well, update about my life the past week. Can't really remember anything significant that happened last week, apart from the weekend.

Stu and I were just chilling out in my flat on Saturday when he suddenly decided to start drinking, so I joined him. About half an hour later, he mentioned Gordon was out and wanted to meet up. Since we owed him drinks, we decided to go out. I was a little tipsy after 3 vodka and lemonades, but as it turned out Stu was far more drunk than I thought he was, since he'd already had about 5 Jack Daniels and cokes.

We met up with Gordon at The Orange Tree, which is quite a nice place. I got hungry half way through and ordered spiced lamb skewers, which didn't turn out to be quite worth the £6 I paid for them. Gordon was going to meet up with Vlad and some other people for a Doors tribute band later, and somehow we found ourselves going to The Rescue Rooms. So Saturday was my very first real gig! Well, sort of, since it is a tribute band after all! Although I still think the Avril Lavigne concert was a gig too! (Of course, Stuart disagrees with me. Sigh.)

It turned out to be pretty good. I didn't know any of the music, but it was alright. I ended up getting pretty drunk by the end of the night, but Stu takes the prize for being the most drunk. Haha! I'd never seen him so wasted before, so it was both very funny and slightly annoying.

After the gig, we went for fish and chips because we were all rather hungry, and then headed to The Social for more drinks before heading home. When we got home, I thought Stuart had sobered up quite a lot, since he'd only had a coke at The Social, but I was wrong. He was still rambling on when we went to bed, and half the stuff he said hardly made sense to me. To be fair, I guess I was quite drunk too. I think at some point we argued about something too, haha.

Sunday was spent in agony. I'd caught some kind of stomach flu, and I found myself running to the bathroom every 15 minutes. It was horrendous. I couldn't even sleep properly at night. At one point, I even fell asleep on the bathroom floor to save getting in and out of bed. It lasted till Wednesday. My stomach's still pretty weird, but at least the crippling pain's stopped and I can at least keep food and drink down. Overall this week's been fairly rubbish.

Hey, at least it's Friday now, right? :)

Bank holiday weekend

The past week seems to have gone by in a blur.

I had 2 resits last week, one on Tuesday and the other on Friday. The first one was an utter disaster. Never have I sat through an examination feeling so useless and dumb. It was like my mind was a complete blank. Luckily, it wasn't the same for the Friday exam.

After my exam ended at 5.30pm on Friday, I rushed to town to meet Stuart for dinner. We went to La Tasca for lovely lovely tapas (50% off with a voucher at studentbeans.com!). After that we went to see The Expendables, starring every big action star you can think of. Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke... Even Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis had cameo appearances.

It wasn't quite what I expected. Then again, I think I went in having really high expectations. It was really quite cheesy, although the action scenes were pretty fantastic. However, it was very much like The A-Team, with some ridiculous fighting scenes and some incredibly cringe-worthy dialogue. Overall though, I quite enjoyed it. I think my dad would love it, simply because of the fight scenes.

Last weekend was bank holiday weekend, so Stu didn't have to go to work on Monday. We spent most of Saturday and Sunday playing games (me on the computer with Sims3 and Stu on his PS3 with Batman: Arkham Asylum and Infamous).

We did go out on Saturday night with Stu's friends to Rock City. I'd never been there before, but always wanted to, so we decided to go. We got to town early, so we went to a bar called Spanky Van Dykes. How cool is that name? Love it. :) Haha. We had a drink there whilst waiting them. As it turned out, 10 minutes later, they arrived and went into the bar right next door to the one we were in, even though Stu had told them where we were. In the end, we just went to Rock City to wait for them. There was a gigantic queue outside, which Stu said could mean that there was a gig on in the club. However, we found out later that it was just the queue for some guestlist, and that the regular queue was basically empty. So we were whizzed in, paid a fiver each for entry and proceeded to wait for people. After about 15 minutes, Stu's friends Mandy, Helen, Rhiannon (hehe I checked Facebook to get the spelling right!) and Jake arrived, and we went in search of drinks.

Rock City is... nice. (Lol!) The music is quite different from what I listen to (obviously, judging from the name of the place, they play rock music). The club has different rooms playing different kinds of music, similar to Oceana. We walked around through all the rooms, but my favourite was the largest one, because at least that played music that I actually recognised. The other rooms had, I don't know, would I even call that music? They played stuff which, to me, was basically a beat, no melody, and someone screaming.

The crowd is pretty interesting too. I was fascinated with the kind of outfits (if you can call them that) that some of the girls wore. Some wore stuff that just looked like a bandage around their boobs. Some didn't even wear any kind of top, just some sort of tape covering her nipples (Stu pointed this one out to me, big surprise there)  and practically no skirt or shorts either, just fishnet stockings. I don't even think she was wearing underwear of any sort, and if she was, it had to be really tiny, because I honestly didn't see any. The number of girls wearing really short, basically almost non-existent skirts and shorts... Well, let's just say, if I was in any other club, I probably wouldn't see anyone dressed like that.

All in all, I had a pretty great night. It was a little boring at first, because I didn't know any of the music that was playing, but as the night went on, I knew more stuff. It's so nice to go to a club and dance and let my hair down, I haven't been in so long. Makes me miss Ocean and Oceana so much. :(

On Monday, Stu was very much intent on playing Infamous on his PS3, but I wanted to go into town to get new flats, since the ones I have had holes in the bottom (I wore them to Rock City and it was disgusting). We got to town and bought some food from Greggs. Stu had a chicken and bacon baguette and I had a very yummy steak and mushroom lattice. I wanted to go to Primark, so we stood outside the back entrance of the store to finish our food. Stupid yucky pigeons were hanging around near us, waiting hopefully for crumbs or something. Don't get me wrong, I love all animals, but pigeons are my least favourite bird (along with crows). They're all germ-infested and I especially hate it when you're walking along and a big flock of them fly up in a flurry. Gross! Imagine all the germs getting all stirred up from them! Eww.

We finally got into Primark, where I bought a bag (it's so pretty, dark green with gold studs), a pair of grey flats with silver studs and a pair of nude coloured peeptoe heels. Altogether, they only cost me £23, which is pretty cheap for 3 items! :) We then ventured into Victoria Centre, where I got a new mascara at Boots. We also went to Game and HMV because Stu wanted to look at PS3 games. I saw the Sims3 Ambitions expansion pack, but I thought it was too expensive at £24.99, but my lovely boyfriend saw I really wanted it and bought it for me! :) :) :) We then went to Tesco to buy stuff to make for dinner and then we took a taxi home. Almost straight away, I started the game and Stu returned to playing Infamous.

Holly came over for drinks and a chat around 10pm. Somehow the conversation moved from the new guy she's seeing to dreams, and then to ghost stories. She only left at almost 1am. Stu was absorbed with his game that he didn't even remember he had work the next day until I said I was surprised he was staying up so late in spite of the fact that he had work in the morning. Haha!

Yesterday, Stu left work early so we could watch Avatar in the cinema again. I cried so much more watching it this time than when I went to see it with Okkar and Kan. The story is just so sad! I love that movie. :) After that, because the weather was nice, we walked back home from town. Stu also made me watch some '80s science fiction film called Tron, because we saw a trailer in the cinema which is either a remake or a sequel. Sigh, boys and their sci-fi stuff.

Hmm, this month we've seen 10 movies at the cinema. The Unlimited cards we got sure are being put to good use! :)

I miss you

It's exactly 1 week to the day we lost you. It still hurts like hell to know you're gone.

Sigh.

Quick update.

Last Tuesday, Stu and I went to Mansfield to watch some films with Hayley and Dave. I forgot how boisterous Hayley's dog Olly was. The first film we watched was Chasing Amy, which was about lesbians. It was quite funny, but it's a pretty old film (as in, from the '90s), so I thought it was a little boring. Plus the girl Ben Affleck falls in love with has a super annoying squeaky voice, so that was rather irritating.

There was a huge debate afterwards about what film we should watch next. Hayley and I voted for Marley & Me, but the boys vehemently voiced their disagreement. In the end, we watched Lost Boys, an '80s vampire film, starring Kiefer Sutherland. It was very cheesy (as are most '80s films), and some of the dialogue was hilarious.

After that, Dave very kindly drove Stu and I all the way back to Nottingham. By the time we reached home, it was almost midnight. We were pretty tired and went to bed almost immediately.

On Thursday and Friday, Tsomo and I spent most of the day viewing apartments. We're going to be roomies next month! :) But we saw one on Friday that we really liked and decided to take it. It's very near to Nottingham city centre, at a place called Ropewalk Court. We'll be moving in at the beginning of September. Can't wait!

Len and Holly came over on Friday night to play games on Stu's PS3 and for drinks. It was fun, but I was really knackered and conked out before 2am. I didn't even know when Len left. I do remember waking up feeling confused at one point in the night, and the boys had left BioShock on on the PS3 and left the room (I thought at first Len had left and Stu was walking him out, but I saw Len's cool Pacman bag on the floor still so I knew they'd gone out so Len could smoke), and the game was making weird scary noises, and me being me, felt really creeped out, even though I was half asleep. So I turned on the radio and went straight back to sleep.

Saturday was crap weather-wise, but Stu still was a darling and went shopping with me without complaining (much). I bought a new black blazer from New Look. It'll come in handy for interviews and such, if I even ever come to that.

I'm trying to understand the whole Java thing for my exam tomorrow. Pretty sure I'm going to tank it. Sigh.

It still feels wrong to feel happy, or to smile and laugh. I try my hardest not to think about you, but sometimes I do, and feels so painful. Mom's having a hard time dealing with all this. I'm worried about her. Please watch over her and help her through this difficult time.

I miss you so much.

Secrets

In a pathetic attempt to take my mind off things that have happened recently, Stuart and I went to the cinema on Sunday and yesterday to watch 4 more movies in Cineworld. That's 8 films in less than a month. We're definitely making very good use of our Unlimited cards.

On Sunday, we saw The Karate Kid, starring Jaden Smith (Will Smith's son) and Jackie Chan. It was pretty cool. Jaden Smith acts like his father, which isn't a bad thing, since Will Smith is a pretty good actor. He's gonna grow up to be quite an idol for teenage girls, I bet. Jackie Chan was cool, as usual. Although the film was called "The Karate Kid", it really was more like "The Kung Fu Kid", which apparently, is what it's called in Asia.

After that, we had dinner in Tamatanga because we had 2 for 1 vouchers on the back of our movie ticket stubs. It was pretty good, but really filling. The restaurant even offered us takeaway boxes, but as we were going for another movie right after dinner, we had to decline.

We then went back to the cinema to see Knight and Day, starring stupid little Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. We got to the screen, thinking that there would be quite a few people there, but it was bloody empty. However, people came streaming in afterwards, including a bunch of noisy people who plonked down right in front of us, who thankfully shut up during the film.

The movie was silly and cheesy and quite predictable, but it made me laugh at some parts. I wouldn't exactly call it a flop, but it wasn't great either.

Then, on Monday, I met Stuart at The Cornerhouse after he finished work and we saw The Sorceror's Apprentice, with Nicholas Cage, Monica Belluci and Alfred Molina. It was typical Disney crap, cheesy and all that, but still pretty good. They had some good music in their soundtrack.

Here's one of the songs, my favourite from the film.

It's called Secrets, by One Republic. I think it's such a beautiful song. Kudos to whoever chose it to be in the movie.

After the movie, we went to Wetherspoons for dinner. I had my long-awaited all-day breakfast. I don't quite understand why they serve chips with all-day breakfast. Who has chips for breakfast?!

After dinner, we went to see Step Up 3D, which I think Stuart was quite reluctant to see. But it was pretty awesome. I wish I could dance like that. Obviously, in a film like this, the storyline is going to be shit as hell, but the whole point is to showcase the dancing, so it was great. Plus, the lead guy, whatever his name is, is gorgeous. :)

This whole "trying to take my mind off things" isn't really working. No matter what, I keep thinking about it. It sucks, and it's totally unfair.

Well, tonight Stuart and I are going to Mansfield to watch some movies with David and Hayley. Maybe that will help distract me.

Slipped Away

I miss you
I miss you so bad
I don't forget you
Oh it's so sad

I hope you can hear me
I remember it clearly

The day you slipped away
Was the day I found
It won't be the same

I didn't get around to kiss you
Goodbye on the hand
I wish that I could see you again
I know that I can't

I hope you can hear me
Cos' I remember it clearly

The day you slipped away
Was the day I found
It won't be the same

I've had my wake up
Won't you wake up
I keep asking why
And I can't take it
It wasn't fake
It happened you passed by

Now you're gone
Now you're gone
There you go
There you go
Somewhere I can't bring you back
Now you're gone
Now you're gone
There you go
There you go
Somewhere you're not coming back

The day you slipped away
Was the day I found
It won't be the same

The day you slipped away
Was the day that I found
It won't be the same

I miss you
