I've moved house!
No more student accommodations! I'm out in the real world, paying proper rent and having to worry about electricity and water bills! Wheeeee!
I'm living with my friend Tsomo from Mongolia in Ropewalk Court, which is really close to town. It's such a convenient location! There's a Budgens less than a minute's walk away and there's a Chinese restaurant right opposite the flat. If I wanted to go into town, it would take only about 10 minutes to walk into the centre of town! Plus, there's a nice pub, Hand & Heart, right downstairs! I love it!
Lovely lovely Stuart took half a day off on Friday to help me pack and move all my and Tsomo's stuff from Opal to the new flat. We packed as much as we could and then we left around 4pm to go to the agent's office to sign contracts and deal with all the paperwork.
Tsomo and I hired a van to move the stuff. It's lucky we did, with the amount of boxes and bags we have! The van guy, Mark, was such a lovely man. He only charged us £25 for the 2 trips it took to move all our belongings, and he even helped carry heavy bags and boxes up to our flat. He provided us with a trolley, and it broke (probably from the sheer weight of our things!)! We felt really bad about it, and gave him £30 instead, since he was so nice and helpful. Tsomo's friend Orod came to give a hand, as did her boyfriend Craig, who was here for the weekend. Thank God for the 4 big strong men!
Surprisingly, the moving in only took about 3 hours. We started pretty late, only getting the keys at 5.30pm. The last box was moved in around 8.30pm, and we lounged around resting for awhile before we headed out to New Ocean City, the Chinese restaurant just right across the road, for a well-deserved dinner (especially for the guys!).
The weekend was spent unpacking and tidying up. We had our first "family" dinner, as Tsomo put it, on Sunday. Stu and I made apple crumble (which was OH-MY-GOD-deliciously-yummy-as-hell) and Tsomo and Craig made beef and onion cous-cous, which was also very, very tasty.
I'm looking forward to this week. Aside from having to work like mad to finish up my dissertation, which is totally doable, I'm sure, the 32" TV I've ordered is arriving either tomorrow or on Thursday, which means we can watch stuff on a nice, big screen, and Stu can finally play on his PS3 (that, I'm not so thrilled about :P) We're also having a housewarming party on Friday, which'll be fun. I've also been slowly packing stuff away and throwing away things I don't need. Next step is to sort through my piles of clothes and shoes and give anything I don't want to charity. Then after that, job hunting shall ensue! I'll have a mini-break after my dissertation's handed in, and then start applying for jobs. I'm pretty sure it won't be easy to find one, given the current economic climate.
Ok, that's all for now. Stu should be back soon, so I'm gonna go start preparing dinner. :)
