The Doors tribute band, drunken antics and stomach flu

Hmm, more than a week since I've updated.

I'm starting to really like 30 Seconds to Mars. Jared Leto (who starred in Requiem for a Dream) is lead singer of the band. I made a horrifyingly embarrassing mistake the other day when I asked Stu what band was Jay Leno in, when I meant Jared Leto. Haha! I always mix up the two.

Anyways, I'm putting up my two favourite songs from the band. I think Jared Leto's voice is pretty amazing. Maybe if he didn't scream as much, it would be even better.

A Beautiful Lie

Closer to the Edge

This song sounds a little like Chris Daughtry's Feels Like Tonight, especially the chorus. I've posted the song below so you can listen and compare.

Chris Daughtry looks a little like Vin Diesel. Ok, random comment. Heh.

Well, update about my life the past week. Can't really remember anything significant that happened last week, apart from the weekend.

Stu and I were just chilling out in my flat on Saturday when he suddenly decided to start drinking, so I joined him. About half an hour later, he mentioned Gordon was out and wanted to meet up. Since we owed him drinks, we decided to go out. I was a little tipsy after 3 vodka and lemonades, but as it turned out Stu was far more drunk than I thought he was, since he'd already had about 5 Jack Daniels and cokes.

We met up with Gordon at The Orange Tree, which is quite a nice place. I got hungry half way through and ordered spiced lamb skewers, which didn't turn out to be quite worth the £6 I paid for them. Gordon was going to meet up with Vlad and some other people for a Doors tribute band later, and somehow we found ourselves going to The Rescue Rooms. So Saturday was my very first real gig! Well, sort of, since it is a tribute band after all! Although I still think the Avril Lavigne concert was a gig too! (Of course, Stuart disagrees with me. Sigh.)

It turned out to be pretty good. I didn't know any of the music, but it was alright. I ended up getting pretty drunk by the end of the night, but Stu takes the prize for being the most drunk. Haha! I'd never seen him so wasted before, so it was both very funny and slightly annoying.

After the gig, we went for fish and chips because we were all rather hungry, and then headed to The Social for more drinks before heading home. When we got home, I thought Stuart had sobered up quite a lot, since he'd only had a coke at The Social, but I was wrong. He was still rambling on when we went to bed, and half the stuff he said hardly made sense to me. To be fair, I guess I was quite drunk too. I think at some point we argued about something too, haha.

Sunday was spent in agony. I'd caught some kind of stomach flu, and I found myself running to the bathroom every 15 minutes. It was horrendous. I couldn't even sleep properly at night. At one point, I even fell asleep on the bathroom floor to save getting in and out of bed. It lasted till Wednesday. My stomach's still pretty weird, but at least the crippling pain's stopped and I can at least keep food and drink down. Overall this week's been fairly rubbish.

Hey, at least it's Friday now, right? :)
