Quick recap about last week. (Actually, it'll be pretty long.)
I decided last minute to surprise Stuart when he got back from Benicassim late Monday night, so I texted Chloe to let her know, and she very kindly offered to pick me up from the train station since I'd never gone to Mansfield all by myself and I didn't know what bus to take to Stu's house.
I got to Nottingham train station quite early and when the train to Mansfield came, I wasn't quite sure if it was the right one. 2 girls in very colourful clothing came up to me and asked if it was the train going to Worksop, and I replied I didn't know, and that I was just about to ask them if the train was the one to Mansfield. I assumed I was right when I saw quite a lot of chav-looking people on board the train.
When I got to Mansfield, Mandy was with Chloe and we had a nice chat before they left because Chloe was going to meet some friends to watch Inception (which I'm dying to see!). So I was left alone in the house. I decided to put on a random movie and read at the same time, but ended up falling asleep instead. When I woke up it was almost 8pm, and I put on Australia, which, by the way, is a long ass film, although it is quite good. I haven't quite finished it yet, though.
Chloe came back when I was watching Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (Don't ask me why I put this on, I must have been quite bored.), and we chatted through the entire movie. A couple times we asked each other what the hell was going on in the movie but we had absolutely no clue what was going on because we'd been talking the whole time.
Around midnight, Stuart got back. After chatting for awhile with Chloe, we went upstairs and he uploaded pictures from the festival. I'm so jealous of how tanned he is now. (Although, not jealous of the lovely tan lines he's got, haha!)
Holly moved into Opal on Monday when I wasn't around, so when I got back to Nottingham on Tuesday evening, Stuart and I dropped by her flat to say a quick hello. So happy I've got a friend here now! :)
We went out to Coco Tang for drinks on Wednesday. Originally there were supposed to be a lot more people, but in the end it was just Holly, Stu and I. Holly came round for wine before we went out, just like old times. Pity Kelly wasn't here! It was half-price cocktails at the bar so we had quite a few drinks before leaving at about 1am. Obviously, the next day was spent nursing a horrible hangover.
Now, about the weekend...
Friday morning was spent travelling to London on the National Express coach. Honestly, fat people should be forced to buy 2 seats. I'd never felt more uncomfortable in my life. Had lunch at KFC and people-watched in Victoria train station before my appointment at the Singapore embassy.
After that, I got lost trying to look for the tube station. After walking around for 10 minutes, this nice guy directed me to Knightsbridge tube station, which is right next to Harrods. I was tempted to go in, but decided against it. (Yay, willpower worked this time!)
Went to Totteridge and Whetstone to Joel's so I could get my stuff back. Elana was late coming back from school, so I only saw her for a little while before I had to leave and meet Kan. Elana has a new little bunny she got from a country fair. He's all black and his name is Lucky! Rambo (their dog) doesn't like the rabbit very much and keeps scratching at the hutch. I think he sees Lucky as a tasty little appetiser before his dinner.
Met Kan and two of his colleagues at a pub near London Bridge. Stuart actually managed to find the place and Kan when I was in the bathroom. Imagine my surprise when I came back outside and they were already chatting!
After that, Stu and I made our way to Canada Water, where we caught the courtesy bus to our hotel (Hilton, no less!), where we were staying for the weekend. After I redid my makeup and got dressed, we left to meet Stuart's friends Emma and JonP in Central London. We got to Leicester Square and had some dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown before we met Emma and JonP in some club (I've already forgotten the name of that place. 12 bar something, maybe?)
On Saturday we took a bus to somewhere near Holborn because the Jubilee line was closed. We ended up having Korean food for lunch at the place Yessicha and Adelia brought me to. After that we wandered towards Trafalgar Square and went to the National Gallery. We then walked to Leicester Square where we had ice-cream in my favourite London ice-cream parlour. I had pistachio and rum and raisin. :)
After that, Stuart decided he wanted to go to the Canadian pub where he and JonP had been to before, so he led the way halfway around London before remembering that the pub was in Covent Garden, which is right next to Leicester Square where we'd set off from. We must have been walking for about 2 hours. Sigh. The journey back to the hotel was ridiculous. The bus we were on suddenly stopped at Elephant and Castle and everyone had to get off. Of course, this meant that all the buses that came along later were packed full of people. In the end, we were so tired and irritated with the London transport that we decided to just take a taxi back to the hotel. Yup, 20 quid for the cab ride.
Sunday morning was spent packing up and checking out of the hotel. We caught the ferry to Canary Wharf and met up with Emma for some shopping. She needed to buy a present for a friend, so Stuart and I went to grab some lunch at one of my favourite Italian restaurants, Carluccios. I used to go there with Melissa and Michelle all the time when I lived in London. Man, that feels like a lifetime ago!
After lunch, we met up with Emma again and walked around the shopping centre. I bought a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Seriously, Nottingham needs to get a Krispy Kreme place. It's ridiculous that it doesn't. Then we went on the DLR to see Emma and JonP's apartment near Stratford. I love that apartment! I want an apartment like that one day!
We left a little late for our train back to Nottingham, and practically all the underground lines were closed for maintenance, so we had to take a taxi from Monument. I now know what it feels like to be in a high speed car chase. I swear, the taxi driver must have broken quite a few traffic rules to get us to St. Pancras station.
We arrived at the right platform with 30 seconds to spare, so we got to watch the train leave the station. :( Luckily, the nice lady in the ticket office put us on the next train after we babbled (quite incoherently) our excuses. So we still got to sit in first class at no extra charge! :) I love first class! I'd never been in first class before. It is awesome! The seats are so much bigger and the carriage was quiet, with practically no one around. Love it.
So that was my eventful weekend. Was pretty fun overall. :)
Oh! Yesterday, when Stuart got back from work, he surprised me with a bunch of flowers! I went downstairs to open the gate and saw that he had his big umbrella opened in front of him. It wasn't raining, so it struck me as quite strange. I'd never received flowers from anyone before, so it was definitely a lovely surprise! :) He remembered my favourite are lilies as well! :)
My favourite flowers from my favourite guy :) |
He also helped me design and finish making the level on LittleBigPlanet for my dissertation. He must have spent about 4 hours doing that. He's totally awesome! :)
Hmm, now to think of
